New American Cancer Society (ACS) research found that colorectal and breast cancer screenings are rising, but cervical cancer screening rates are still low.
The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in cancer screenings declining, but according to ACS, breast and colorectal cancer screening rates bounced back “and surpassed screening estimates prior to the pandemic.” Cervical cancer screenings are still lower than their pre-pandemic rates.
Additionally, the higher screening rates for breast and colorectal cancer were mostly patients with higher socioeconomic status, according to ACS.
The study is published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
