Improving cancer care in rural and frontier residencies

Feb. 19, 2025
Cancer patients that live in rural areas are more likely to die from the disease.

The University of Utah’s Huntsman Cancer Institute is making cancer treatment more accessible to Utah’s residents.

According to an announcement, the university was the recipient of a research contract with the ARPA-H PARADIGM program, “which was established to improve medical care in rural and frontier communities.” Cancer patients that live in rural areas are more likely to die from the disease.

Patients that reside in Grand, Emery, and Carbon counties will have access to testing, treatment, and imaging “through the implementation of a specially outfitted mobile vehicle, one of the main components of the ARPA-H PARADIGM program.”

Additionally, these patients will also have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials.
