Someone you look up to in the industry: I look up to those in the industry who inspire others in the field of research and infectious diseases. Those who discover new methods and technologies to help understand the mechanisms of pathogens, and to educate new scientists in the field of medical laboratory sciences.
Favorite hobby: I’m a watercolor artist
Favorite movie of all time: Interview with a Vampire
Favorite band: Mottle Crue
Favorite thing about working in a lab: The thing I like most about working in the lab is being able to share my experiences with new scientists and students in the field. Help them develop the necessary skills and knowledge they need to do quality work so they can serve our community of patients. I like my students to meditate on the importance of having critical thinking when working with clinical samples, since many of the medical decisions and treatments for patients will depend on them. Also, teamwork is essential for the benefit of the entire lab. Working with microorganisms is the best, learning about their virulence and pathogenicity will help us discover new treatments and cures for future diseases.
