An Alzheimer’s disease gene therapy has been produced by University of California San Diego School of Medicine scientists “that could help protect the brain from damage and preserve cognitive function,” according to a release.
The new therapy could lead researches to “the root cause of Alzheimer’s disease by influencing the behavior of brain cells themselves.” The developers hope their therapy will intervene with Alzheimer's progression.
Future studies are needed to test the therapy on humans.
