Advanced Instruments debuts poster on cell count bias at Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine

Aug. 6, 2024
ADLM was held July 28-August 1 in Chicago.

Advanced Instruments was featured in an observational study, “Reducing cell count bias with the GloCyte Automated Cell Counter for Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF),” that was presented last week at ADLM’s Clinical Lab Expo in Chicago, IL.

In collaboration with Loyola University Medical Center, the primary objective of the study was to evaluate and compare the inherent bias in manual, total nucleated cells (TNC) determination in CSF against Advanced Instruments’ GloCyte Automated Cell Counter for CSF. The study also underscores the importance of accurate STAT CSF cell counts, which are essential for diagnosing critical conditions such as meningitis, malignancy, demyelinating disease, and hemorrhage.

The findings demonstrate that the GloCyte Automated Cell Counter for CSF reduces subjectivity and non-random errors associated with manual counting methods, and increases diagnostic reliability for serious neurological conditions.
