United Healthcare has delayed a requirement that in-network laboratories report their unique lab-specific codes along with other information for the majority of freestanding and outpatient lab testing services, according to the American Hospital Association (AHA).
The payer has delayed the effective date of the requirement from April 1, 2021 to January 1, 2022.
The AHA said it had urged UHC to forgo the policy change, which the association said could reduce access to care and burden providers has they respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
