The Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and the Treasury announced measures to move forward with President Trump’s healthcare price transparency initiative.
The agencies published a request for information (RFI) asking the public for advice on the new and current policies. Additionally, they published revised guidance “for health plans and issuers that sets a clear applicability date for publishing an enhanced technical format for disclosures.”
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issued their own guidelines for hospitals, “requiring hospitals to post the actual prices of items and services, not estimates.” They are also seeking public input on best practices for ensuring the new policies are followed.
