Dr. Mehmet Oz was confirmed as the 17th Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator on April 3. He revealed his goals for the agency in a press release.
With a reported $1.7 trillion budget, he will work closely with Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. on the Make America Healthy Again Campaign. Some actions CMS will take to achieve this are:
· Enforcing the President’s Executive Order on Transparency
· Providing healthcare professionals with more “information about the patients they serve and holding them accountable for health outcomes, rather than unnecessary paperwork that distracts them from their mission.”
· Combating fraud
· Emphasize “prevention, wellness, and chronic disease management.”
Dr. Oz’s bio, according to CMS:
