New pediatric hospital to open in Wesley Chapel

April 1, 2025

Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital has announced a new 56-bed pediatric care hospital that will open in Wesley Chapel.

The new facility was announced on March 27 in front of the community, board members, staff, and patients and their families. One of the goals of the new hospital is to expand access to care for children living north of Tampa Bay. According to a release, one of the patients said, “the new hospital would cut an hour off his commute time.”

Additionally, some of the areas this center will serve “are projected to have pediatric population growth of 12% between 2023 and 2032.” Presently, “93% of patients living in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties travel outside the immediate area for pediatric specialty care.”

The hospital “will be on a 112-acre site near Interstate 75 and Overpass Road” and “will feature a 16-room Emergency Center, four operating rooms, an infusion center, sleep laboratory, a gastroenterology procedures suite, and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services.” A 36-room, 25,000-square-foot outpatient care center will appear on the second floor.
