The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the General Counsel (OGC) restructuring efforts were announced by Acting General Counsel Sean Keveney on March 11.
The reorganization is part of HHS’s plan to advance Secretary Kennedy’s Make America Healthy Again undertaking. According to the announcement, “OGC will consolidate the number of regional offices from 10 to four. Regional offices will be maintained in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Kansas City (MO), and Denver, which will provide the same geographic support for regional HHS offices at lower operating costs.”
OGC also announced a new senior role: The Chief Counsel for Food, Research, and Drugs. This position will oversee the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Chief Counsel, the Food and Drug Division of OGC, and the National Institutes of Health Branch of OGC. Robert Foster will be taking on this role.
