The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published their own women’s health eBook. According to CMS’s announcement, this was developed in partnership with the White House Gender Policy Council.
The aim of the Women’s Health Data Book is to reflect the health experiences of women with Medicare. Of the nearly 68 million Medicare beneficiaries, only about 37 million are women. In 2022, “9 percent of women and 7 percent of men reported trouble getting healthcare they wanted or needed.”
According to the book, in 2022, women experienced contrasting health conditions and outcomes from men in the following conditions:
· Chronic disorders
· Respiratory diseases
· Osteoporosis
· Disabilities
· Depression
· Sleep trouble
The book includes more health disparities faced by women and highlights “the need for additional research and analysis of women’s health.”
