Three government organizations announced the National One Health Framework to Address Zoonotic Diseases and Advance Public Health Preparedness in the United States (NOHF-Zoonoses).

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Department of the Interior (DOI) published the framework to help keep humans, animals, and the environment healthy by identifying their associations. “The One Health approach importantly provides a framework to navigate health threats shared between people and animals, such as COVID-19, mpox, avian influenza, Ebola and other shared One Health issues,” according to a CDC release.

The framework highlights the following goals to address zoonotic diseases for the next five years: Coordination, collaboration and communication; Prevention; Preparedness; Coordinated Outbreak Investigation, Response, and Recovery; Surveillance; Laboratory; and Workforce.
