2025 U.S. measles cases have already exceeded 2024 numbers

The Centers for Disease Control Prevention (CDC) updated their “Measles Cases and Outbreaks” page on March 14, 2025.

According to the recent update, there have been 301 confirmed cases of measles in 2025, compared to 285 in 2024. Two people have died measles-related deaths, according to the CDC. 17% of measles patients have been hospitalized so far in 2025, compared to 40% in 2024.

The American Hospital Association pointed out that, “cases have been confirmed in 14 states, whereas last year cases were confirmed in 31 states and Washington, D.C.”

According to the CDC, 95% of confirmed cases are in unvaccinated patients, or patients who do not know their vaccination status.
