The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published a Health Alert Network (HAN) Health Advisory regarding influenza A.
CDC is calling for faster subtyping of “all influenza A specimens among hospitalized patients and increasing efforts at clinical laboratories to identify non-seasonal influenza,” according to the advisory. Additionally, CDC says laboratories should test all people they suspect have any form of influenza. The aim of this is to distinguish avian influenza A(H5N1) viruses quicker.
