C-reactive protein assay
The Piccolo MetLyte Plus CRP Reagent Disc, used with the Piccolo xpress chemistry analyzer, is intended to be used for the
in vitro quantitative determination of C-reactive protein, chloride, creatine kinase, creatinine, glucose, potassium, sodium, total carbon dioxide and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) in heparinized whole blood, heparinized plasma, or serum in a clinical laboratory setting. Users can conduct on-site chemistry analysis in less than 12 minutes for conditions such as infections, inflammatory diseases, tissue injury, and some neoplastic processes. CRP is widely used as an indicator of inflammation or infection, including rheumatoid arthritis, although the test has utility in the detection and treatment of other afflictions as well.

Two-part liquid homocysteine reagent
Elevated homocysteine is now widely accepted as an important risk factor for cardiovascular disease. This
Homocysteine Assay, a two-part liquid stable reagent for automated clinical chemistry analyzers, incorporates an enzyme-cycling sequence that offers an 18-month shelf-life, 30-day on-board stability, and extended calibration stability. Calibrator value is standardized to NIST SRM 1955, and the assay shows excellent correlation with immunoassay and HPLC methods.

New application
A
new direct HbA1c reagent application for the Vital
Diagnostics Envoy500 Analyzer is available. The unique
single-channel immunoturbidimetric assay is fully automated,
requires no manual sample preparation, no separate total
hemoglobin measurement, and no additional calculations.
Non-specific binding of total hemoglobin, both glycated and non-glycated,
to latex particles is employed in the first reaction. Specific
antibodies used in the second-reaction result in agglutination
of only HbA1c-bound latex particles. The absorbance of the
agglutination is measured at 600 nm to 660 nm, and the HbA1c
concentration is determined using calibrators with known HbA1c
values.

Variety of reagents
A
variety of reagents for diagnosis and monitoring of prostate cancer
using immunohistochemical staining procedures include prediluted and
concentrated antibodies for PSA, p63, and P504S (Racemase) is available.
Also available is the PIN-4 multiplex stain, which permits simultaneous
localization of three antigens (p63, high molecular-weight cytokeratin,
and P504S) on the same slide. This two-color stain provides rapid
differentiation of high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN)
from invasive carcinoma and benign lesions.
