Diagnostics
PNA FISH test with rapid results
The EK/P aeruginosa PNA FISH diagnostic test identifies
Escherichia coli and/or Klebsiella pneumoniae as well as Pseudomonas aeruginosa directly from positive blood cultures. PNA FISH tests now provide rapid, therapy-guiding results for 95% to 99% of patients with bloodstream infections and positive blood cultures. EK/P aeruginosa PNA FISH will enable microbiology labs to provide clinicians rapid, accurate, Gram-negative pathogen identification results in hours instead of days. This test can provide critical results 24 to 48 hours sooner than conventional methods to help clinicians improve care and outcomes for patients with Gram-negative bloodstream infections.

Open system for nucleic-acid testing
Jaguar
offers laboratories a cost-effective, rapid solution for nucleic-acid
testing. It is an open system, enabling automation of manual
laboratory-developed tests resulting in a virtually unlimited menu. This
flexibility will help prevent obsolescence and the need to replace
equipment as new tests are requested by clinicians. With the ability to
process samples 24/7 in random-access mode, Jaguar is capable of
processing raw patient samples, such as swabs, urine, plasma,
cerebrospinal fluid, and blood, with results available in 45 to 90
minutes. The system’s unitized reagent strips and microfluidic cartridge
reduce the risk of amplified nucleic-acid contamination.

Fecal parasite test features improved methodology
PARATEST
is an alternative to traditional fecal examination, making the process
much easier and secure, avoiding steps in order to recognize the fecal
parasites. PARATEST it is a prefilled container used for filtering,
concentrating, and recovering parasites from fixed/preserved body waste.
The filtration device utilizes a 266-µ polyester mesh and a cone-shaped
opening to maximize the filtration areas. When a fixed/preserved
specimen is filtered through the device, the larger fecal matter is
separated from the preserved fecal specimen. This traps the fecal
matter, allowing parasite forms to pass through the device onto a glass
microscope plate.

Antibodies for specific diagnosis of breast cancer
A
comprehensive panel of antibodies for breast carcinoma includes
ADH-5 (atypical ductal hyperplasia). ADH-5 is an antibody cocktail
composed of CK5/CK14 + p63 + CK7/CK18 antibodies and can solve multiple
clinical problems. The antibody panel allows for prognostic, predictive,
and diagnostic tests specific for breast carcinoma. These markers are
available as single primary antibodies, cocktailed, or a multiplex
combination, and are available for clinical applications. ADH-5 can
solve multiple clinical problems including 1) differentiating
hyperplasia of the usual type from atypical ductal hyperplasia, 2)
identifying microinvasion and invasive ductal carcinoma, and 3)
distinguishing basal phenotypes on triple negatives.

Monitor celiac-disease activity
Measurement
of antibodies to gliandin is useful in monitoring celiac-disease
activity and compliance to a gluten-free diet. Conventional ELISA
methods use crude gliadin antigen and have shown limited sensitivity and
specificity; the BINDAZYME Human Anti-Gliadin MPG IgG and IgA EIA
Kits use a modified gliadin peptide with high sensitivity and
specificity. In the small intestine, ingested gluten is broken down into
gliandin peptides which are deamidated by the enzyme tissue
tranglutaminase or tTg. These peptides enhance the immunogenicity of
gliandin, demonstrating improved diagnostic accuracy. Gliadin antibodies
are produced early in the disease and are helpful in early detection.

Precise profiling
RanplexCRC
is a diagnostic test that can detect 28 polymorphisms associated with
colorectal cancer in a single stool sample. It does not require a
hospital visit or dietary restrictions; has great sensitivity; and may
more accurately profile patients and, thus, reduce the number of
patients for colonoscopy — saving time, resources, and reducing patient
discomfort. RanplexCRC can simultaneously detect 28 mutations from four
key genes in cancer or pre-cancerous cells. Selected mutations present
in APC, KRAS, BRAF, and Tp53, along with wild-type control sequences,
are represented on two biochips detected using the biochip array
analyzers by this company.

Differentiates flus A and B
The
OSOM Influenza A & B Test differentiates between the two. The
product is easy to read, uses nasal-swab specimens, and includes two
extra test sticks for external quality-control (QC) testing. Test uses
less than one minute of hands-on time, and results are ready in 10
minutes. The test can be stored at room temperature and has a shelf life
of 12 months from date of manufacture; specimens may be held at room
temperature for up to eight hours or refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
Extracted samples may be held at room temperature for up to 24 hours.
